The project WoodSource Milestone was born in the last quarter of 2008, following a successful fusion with partners in forestry carrying a longstanding experience in afforstation of teakwood plantations.

Woodsource Foundation was founded in 2010 and registered commercially in Liechtenstein as a foundation. Marcel Egli forms the foundation board of which Josef G. Herrmann is President. The function of the foundation is the securing of finances for cultivation of plantations owned by Milestone Consulting AG.

Panama has a tropical climate. Temperatures are uniformly high—as is the relative humidity—and there is little seasonal variation. Diurnal ranges are low; on a typical dry-season day in the capital city, the early morning minimum may be 24 °C (75.2 °F) and the afternoon maximum 30 °C (86.0 °F). The temperature seldom exceeds 32 °C (89.6 °F) for more than a short time. Temperatures on the Pacific side of the isthmus are somewhat lower than on the Caribbean, and breezes tend to rise after dusk in most parts of the country. Temperatures are markedly cooler in the higher parts of the mountain ranges, and frosts occur in the Cordillera de Talamanca in western Panama.
In the last 30 years the yearly increase in price of teakwood in timberindex was at 14.4%. Our calculations are conservatively set at 0-6%. WoodSource developed a concept for individuals to participate as well. It allows a safe and direct asset through the acquisition of tree population from in-house plantations. Together with institutional investors Wood Source plans and implements ideally structured projects to invest in forestry.
